Why I decided to redesign my blog
If you’re a regular reader of my blog then you’ll realise that something has changed. If you’re new here then welcome!
Even though I’ve only had my website for a short while, I am always looking to change things up and improve it. Whether it’s a minor tweak to colours or adding in a new widget. It’s just how I am. Restless and never completely satisfied.
There’s another reason that I redesigned my blog though.
I’m sure that I’m not the only person that will have noticed this, but there appears to be a theme amongst lifestyle bloggers. I call it the “bloggers aesthetic”.
Now don’t get me wrong, I really like the look of all the websites that I have come across that use this style, I even had it myself on my previous layout.
It’s the same in modern web design, there are trends every single year whether it’s parallax, material design, drop shadows, you name it and everyone will be implementing it at some point.
I had been thinking about my blog recently and what direction I wanted to take it, the type of content I wanted to produce and the areas that I want to improve. Photography being one of them and my layout being the other.
I came to the realisation that my blog is exactly that, it’s my blog and a reflection of my own personality and creativity. No two people are the same and I felt that my layout didn’t let me stand out enough.
So here we are. This is my new layout.
I’m Peter and it feels good to be different.
